We wanted to share some truly wonderful news following the close of this year’s Finnbar’s Christmas Lights.

Despite grey skies, cold winds and the usual challenges that come with packing everything away in January, we paused while taking the lights down to reflect on what has been an extraordinary Christmas for Finnbar’s Force.

This year, our community helped us raise an incredible £24,000 through the Christmas lights.

That is more than three times the amount raised last year, and it honestly still feels a little unreal to say it out loud.

A community effort from start to finish

This total is a direct result of so many people coming together. From those who visited the lights and popped coins into the wishing well, to those who donated online, shared our posts, or organised small collections and workplace whips-rounds – every single contribution mattered.

Following the theft from the wishing well earlier in the season, the support we received from the community was overwhelming. So many people reached out with kindness, encouragement and generosity, and that collective response played a huge part in making this year so special.

What this means for the year ahead

The funds raised through Finnbar’s Christmas Lights will make a real difference to the families we support. This £24,000 will help us deliver and develop some of our most important work in the year ahead, ensuring we can continue to be there for families affected by childhood cancer when they need support beyond the hospital setting.

We will be sharing more about upcoming projects and plans very soon.

Thank you

To everyone who visited, donated, supported, shared, volunteered or encouraged us along the way – thank you. This result belongs to the whole community, and we are so grateful to every single person who helped make it happen.

From all of us at Finnbar’s Force, thank you for standing with us and for helping turn a simple set of Christmas lights into something that truly changes lives.

Earlier this week Tristan took to social media to announce the news. You can watch the video here: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/18CWWdWdJK/
